PASTOR steve petroelje
- Transition Pastor -
As HRC's transition pastor, Steve provides leadership and preaching, focuses on assessing health and effectiveness and will provide equipping and coaching during the search process. This is the fourth church that Steve has served as a transition pastor following nine years as a solo pastor in Iowa and ten years as a lead pastor in Byron Center, MI.
Steve and his wife Joy have three sons. In his spare time, Steve enjoys attending his children's sporting events and activities, gardening, woodworking, and traveling with family.
PASTOR ron lugten
- Pastor Of Senior Adult Ministries -
Ron spends much of his time visiting with and caring for the senior adults at HRC. He works hard to design and implement ministries, events, and programs for seniors from our church and the community at large.
Ron also serves as the senior pastor of another congregation in the area (North Blendon Reformed Church). Fun fact, in a previous life, Ron served as the manager of a family-owned clothing store in Holland.
Sara Groenheide has worked as the Administrative Assistant at HRC for the past 10 years. When not working, Sara enjoys reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

- Financial Assistant / Children's Discipleship Coordinator -
In her role as Financial Assistant, Nicki works closely with the Deacons to ensure that monetary gifts and resources are kept in order. Nicki also serves as one of HRC's two Children's Discipleship Coordinators where she helps to organize ministries for primary aged kids.
Nicki is married to her husband Phil and they have four children together. When she does come by a bit of free time Nicki enjoys
reading and, if the weather is nice enough, going for long
walks in and around the Hamilton area.
Gracie serves as one of HRC's Children's Discipleship Coordinators. In this position, she helps to organize, facilitate, and make decisions about ministries for kids (ages 3 years to 5th grade) at HRC.
Gracie and her husband, Mike, have two daughters. In addition to working with the kids at HRC, she teaches elementary school in Saugatuck. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
- Children's Discipleship Coordinator -
- Director Of Student Ministries -
As the Director Of Youth Leadership invests his time and energy in caring for the spiritual and emotional needs of Jr. & Sr. high students. In collaboration with hard-working volunteer-leaders, Drew organizes a variety of ministry opportunities so Hamilton area teenagers can know Jesus and have a ton of fun.
Drew is a huge fan of Michigan Football, works full-time for Mikalan Roofing in Zeeland and has been married to his wife Jessi since 2018.
- Kid's Hope Director -
Bev has been the Kid's Hope Director for Hamilton Reformed Church and Haven Reformed Church since 2017. Her job is to train mentors to minister to at risk students in the elementary and middle school.
Bev is also a retired nurse who enjoys fishing, baking, puzzle making and just relaxing.
- Building Cleaner -
Amy works behind the scenes by keeping the church clean. But beyond the sweeping, dusting, and vacuuming Amy serves a larger purpose: she helps ensure that our building is warm and hospitable for everyone who spends time at HRC.
Amy volunteers regularly at the elementary school in town and loves; spending time scrapbooking with close friends, reading Karen Kingsbury books (or anything about true life miracles), teaching Sunday school for 3 and 4 year old's, and especially being a Kids Hope Mentor.
- Outdoor Custodian -
As Outdoor Custodian, Andy oversees the maintenance of the outdoor grounds from taking care of equipment, trimming the bushes, shoveling snow to chasing the moles away. Andy's full-time job is the Farm Director of the non-profit Eighth Day Farm so he is passionate about keeping things looking green and healthy. Andy and his wife Erin are members of the congregation with their kids Zoe and Grayson.
- Building Maintenance -
As Building Maintenance, Ryan, oversees the maintenance inside the Church. Ryan changes the lightbulbs, monitors the HVAC system, makes sure inspections are completed and any general building maintenance.
Ryan also works full time as a Product Development Engineer at Broadview Product Development. Ryan also serves as a Deacon on our consistory. Ryan and his wife, Misti, are members of the congregation along with their daughters, Grace and Abigail.
